Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 Mini Pro: A Compact Smartphone
The Mobile World Congress (MWC) is an annual event of the Global System for Mobile Communications Association (GSMA). This year, the event was held at Barcelona, Spain. The event showcased the latest developments regarding devices, technologies, applications, and accessories. It was during the MWC when Sony Ericsson revealed their latest smartphones. Among all the phones unveiled, the Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10 Mini Pro got the most attention. Most perceive the Mini Pro as a little brother of the Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10 with inferior features. Let’s take a look at the Mini Pro and see if it is indeed a smartphone with substandard features.
Display and Camera
The Mini Pro comes with a 2.55 inch TFT QVGA touch screen. The phone can display 262, 144 colors with resolution of 240 by 320 pixels. The screen of the Mini Pro may not be as big as the screen of most smartphones, still it is able to display pictures and play videos with excellent quality. The Mini Pro comes with dimensions 90 by 52 by 17 millimeters. This makes the phone a little thicker than most smartphones because of its QWERTY keyboard.
The QWERTY keyboard of the Mini Pro is probably its best feature. Since most smartphones are strictly touch screen gadgets, typing texts into the phone can sometimes be irksome. With the QWERTY keyboard users are given the option to slide out the keyboard. The phone will automatically switch to wide view. The phone also comes with contextual buttons placed at the four corners of the touch screen. This buttons can be customized by users depending on their preference.
This little brother of the X10 comes with a 5 megapixel digital camera. The camera comes with autofocus and geo-tagging features. It also has LED flash and can serve as a video recorder. This makes it perfect for those who love to take still images and record videos during special occasions.
Entertainment
The Mini Pro, unlike the X10, comes with an FM Radio that has Radio Data System (RDS). This lets smartphone users listen to their favorite radio station. It also allows video playback and streaming. And like all other smartphones, the Mini Pro comes with pre-installed 3D games, perfect for those who are into games. The phone also allows users to access their social networking sites such as Facebook, Twitter and Bebo through the Timescape. The Timescape allows users to pull together the information of their contacts in one place.
The Mini Pro would not be complete without Sony Ericsson’s Walkman player. The phone also plays different formats so users will not have a difficult time converting their music into different formats. These videos and music can be organized and archived into the phone via the Mediascape feature.
Browsing and Connectivity
Like most smartphones, the Mini Pro also comes with 3G HSDPA and HSUPA and WiFi. These features allow Mini Pro users to access and browse through the internet with WLAN connections.
The Mini Pro also comes with Bluetooth and microUSB. This allows users to transfer their data into other gadgets, wireless and cabled.
Although, the Mini Pro is probably one of the smallest smartphones manufactured by Sony Ericsson, it certainly does not mean that its features are inferior to the likes of Xperia X10.
