Nokia N95 8gb Review – Changing the Face of Smartphones
Just like the entire N-series of Nokia, the Nokia N95 is a full fledged smartphone that, on the whole, is more akin to a miniature computer than mobile phone. Much of the N-series, N95 included, has come under heavy criticism for being too big, too sluggish at times, too buggy, and so on. However, despite all this criticism, the N-series still has a pretty large following that would swear by it as one of the best gadgets ever. Mostly it would seem that for all its problems, the N95 and other N-series mobile phones are sort of like a look into the future, and the wide range of possibilities that it can command.
Features of the Nokia N95 8GB
At the time of its release, the Nokia N95 8GB was the very first phone to incorporate 5 megapixel technology to be released in the UK. Not only that, but it was Nokia 5 megapixel technology, which meant that it also included the Carl-Zeiss optics and Tessar lenses that were part of why the N93 was such a resounding success in this area. Essentially, the Nokia N95 8GB offered, and still does offer, some of the best image capture ability in the market.
Everything about the N95 was the best available at the time of its launch. From the HSDPA data transfer technology that would come to be referred to as 3.5G, to the WLAN support that would send shockwaves of awe through the mobile phone world, the N95 had it all and more.
As if being a high quality camera equivalent, mobile phone, and music player wasn’t enough, the N95 also incorporated GPS technology into its design. This meant that any N95 user only had to register and he or she could track his position in relation to wherever he wanted to go whether by car or foot. Needless to say, GPS maps have always been one of the greater gadgets out there, and having one within a mobile phone was just too good to be true.
Everything in One Box
For the Nokia N95 8GB, having everything in one box was its crowning glory. The best technology at the time, all seamlessly working together within a mobile phone that truly was at the pinnacle of the market was a real marvel to behold. Sure, there were complaints regarding the weaknesses of the N95, however for anyone that wanted to truly try out the mobile phones of tomorrow, the N95 offered the best way to do so, today.
Now, of course, the N95 has been surpassed in some ways, but not in most just yet. Because of just how high-end it was at the time of its release, all the technology it used will continue to remain relevant for quite some time. Although the execution could have been improved, Nokia ought to be congratulated for bringing mobile phone users around the world one of the best mobile phone deals possible with their computer-within-a-mobile-phone concepts.
Perhaps someday Nokia will return to the N95 8GB and smartphones of its kind for another crack at the future of mobile phones.

iPhone still has the edge over Palm with its new Pre smartphone
PALM PRE versus iPhone – which one to choose?
Palm has launched its new smartphone now, called Palm Pre.
So far only available on Sprint network for a price of USD 199.99 competing with the price of iPhone.
So what are the similarities and what are the differences between these two gadgets?
Here is the list of Palm Pre capabilities and functionalities.
Layered calendars and linked contacts
Pre uses the Palm® Synergy™ feature to bring your Outlook®, Google, and Facebook® calendars together for one logical view of your day. And if you have the same contacts in different places, Pre can link them together, making it easy to find the information you need.1,2
Activity cards
Keep multiple applications open and move easily between them—email, maps, photos, websites, whatever.3 Pre thinks of your applications as activity cards, and lets you flip through them, move them around, or throw them away off screen.
Intuitive notifications
Things like text messages and calendar appointments appear as notifications at the bottom of the screen. You’ll know what’s going on without being completely interrupted or losing your train of thought.
Combined messaging
Thanks to Palm Synergy, your conversations with the same person are grouped together in one chat-style view. (Even if it started in IM, for example, and you want to reply with text.) You can also see who’s online right from contacts, and start a new conversation with just one touch.1
Universal search4
Simply start typing to begin searching your contacts and applications.4 Pre begins with information on the phone, and then offers to search Google, Google Maps, Wikipedia, or Twitter. With a fast browser at 3G speeds, you’ll find what you’re looking for in no time.5
Email, Wi-Fi, and GPS
Check Microsoft Exchange email or personal email accounts like Gmail, Hotmail, AOL, and Yahoo!.1,6 Take advantage of Wi-Fi hotspots.1 And look up directions or nearby points of interest using GPS.7 It’s everything you need when you’re on the go.
Photos, Music, and Videos
Take great pictures with the built-in camera and flash. Watch a video on the vibrant color touchscreen. Buy songs from the Amazon MP3 store1 and listen using the built-in music player. Plus, use the Palm media sync feature to transfer your DRM-free iTunes music, podcasts, photos, and more to your Pre.
Breakthrough design
Slide out the keyboard for faster and easier texting. Close it up and rotate Pre for music, websites, photos, and videos in full widescreen glory. You get the best of both worlds in one beautifully designed phone
Applications
Get applications by browsing the catalog on your Pre, and then download them over the air directly to your phone.1 Apps designed for the Palm webOS™ platform are integrated with other apps on the phone. Buy movie tickets, for example, and you can add the times right to your calendar.8
1 – Third party software may be required at an additional cost. Within wireless coverage area only. Requires data services at additional cost. Third party software, videos and music sold separately. Wi-Fi within range of 802.11b/g Wi-Fi network. Some Wi-Fi hotspots require fee for usage.
2 – Available for Exchange ActiveSync only. Requires Microsoft Outlook using Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 SP2 or later. Within wireless coverage area only. Requires data services at additional cost.
3 – Number of applications and actual performance varies depending on applications used and actions performed.
4 – Searches web and user’s applications, contacts, and dialing information. Web search within wireless coverage area only. Requires data services at additional cost.
5 – 3G within HSDPA or EvDO Rev A data coverage area only. Actual speeds vary based on network capacity and application design.
6 – Microsoft Exchange email requires Microsoft Outlook using Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 SP2 or later. Additional fees may apply
7 – Coverage not available in all areas at all times. Requires data services at additional cost. Voice-activated, as-you-go, turn-by-turn directions require third party software at additional cost.
8 – Third party software may be required at an additional cost. Within wireless coverage area only. Requires data services at additional cost. Actual data speeds vary based on network capacity and application design.
So what is the verdict?
Based on this list of functionalities it is clear that Palm Pre is geared towards a different segment of users than the iPhone users.
I beg to see how Palm will take up the competition with iPhone when it comes to the amount of applications available to iPhone and how Apple has made it available to developers through their SDK.
This is one of the main differences, however there are more that differ these two smart phones from each other. The design is of course different and the concept of interacting with the users. Apple has still the edge as they rely on touch completely as Palm still uses keyboard option for the users. Given the development and user ability, it makes the iPhone the winner on this specter as well.
Palm Pre has one advanage over iPhone with its capability to have more than one application active at the same time, as Palm Pre uses available memory and share it between application and notify you when there is not enough memory to seve all applications active. Whether you need this multi tasking option is questionable as you probably will have enough to handle one task at the time when you are on the move anyway. However, for a busy business man it might come in handy as you want to have email and office related applications active simultaneously.
My verdict is still, stick to the iPhone as it offers more versitiliy than the Palm Pre. However it is your choice really.
LG GT500 Mobile Phone Review – a Sophisticated Smartphone With an Amazing Camera
The LG GT500, also known as the Puccini, is a mobile that has a little something for everyone. While it’s not as flashy some of the other big name phones on the market today, its feature-packed camera, speedy internet connection, and large touch screen are all well-loved characteristics that will make it a highly enjoyable phone for many.
Appearance:
With its standard rectangular shape and grey exterior, the Puccini may look a bit dull in comparison to some other phones, but at 86 g, it’s an ultra-slim device that is small and flat enough for you to carry almost anywhere with no trouble. Its enormous touchscreen is also a plus, providing bright, crisp footage.
Sound:
Opera buffs may have perked their ears at the phone’s unique title. Music enthusiasts will be pleased to know that the Puccini has a sound system that lives up to its name. Tailored to turn any set of headphones into high quality sound devices, the Dolby Mobile does its best to eliminate traces of distortion, static, and volume issues. Its media player capabilities won’t leave you disappointed either.
Camera:
The phone’s camera is by far it’s biggest strength. At five megapixels, you have more than enough power and features to keep most shutterbugs happily snapping away. These include autofocus, imagine stabilisation, a LED flash, and geotagging options for when you want to add a new dimension to your vacation photos.
Users can also enjoy a few of the newer, popular features such as the Blink Shot, which prevents those annoying photos where someone inevitably always has their eyes closed. Face recognition is another handy tool that allows you to zoom in automatically on faces, resulting in much better shots.
While we would have liked to see a xenon flash, this is a camera that’s more than powerful enough to work in bright and gloomy settings. Best of all, the phone’s speedy internet allows you to upload your pictures to your blog or photo site as well.
Internet Connectivity:
This is a phone that will provide you with more than enough power to stay connected. Combine this with a 2100MHz HSDPA, Stereo Bluetooth and USB connection options, plus a handy GPS and a fairly convenient email client, and you have everything you need to keep in touch right at your fingertips.
Memory and Talktime:
With 60 megabytes, plus an additional microSD card, you have more than enough space to store your photos, music, emails, and more. One would think that its plethora of features would have you charging constantly, but with 200 minutes of talk time and 350 hours of standby, it’s not as big of a hassle as we feared. However, it’s best to keep your charger at hand just in case you plan heavy use.
Verdict:
The LG GT500 is a perfectly lovely smartphone. Its delightful camera, high-speed internet, and bright, responsive touch screen are all features that make it a must for gadget lovers and camera enthusiasts alike. However, this may not be the phone for you if you’re looking for a little something more-while its features are fun and convenient, you won’t find anything groundbreaking here.
iPhone Touchscreen Smarter than other Smartphones
Millimeters Matter: Small differences in touchscreen sensitivity actually reveal exponential difference in performance. Less sensitive touchscreen systems are infuriating to use for typing.
The clear winner was the iPhone’s touch sensor, which showed the most linear tracking with the least amount of stair-stepping. The Droid Eris and Nexus One tied for second with only faint wiggling but actually performed best at the edge of the screen. Last in the line-up was the Motorola Droid, which demonstrated significant wavy artifacts or “stair-stepping.”
To create a superior touchscreen experience, the key is to develop a touchscreen sensor that has the highest possible signal-to-noise ratio, or SNR. When a manufacturer gets it right, the device tracks touch inputs almost as if they were connected to physical objects in the real world. Key drivers of SNR include:
Conductive sensor material
Substrate material
Substrate thickness
Distance from display (the biggest noise source) Sensing waveform Sensor pattern Sensor pitch Analog sensing circuitry Sample rate
Touchscreens are a catalyst for innovation and a powerful way for device manufacturers to differentiate their products in an intensely competitive marketplace. But as MOTO’s demonstration shows, there’s a right way and a wrong way to deploy the technology. MOTO has worked with capacitive touch interfaces, and offered up these essential dos and don’ts for anyone entering the field:
* Don’t skimp on materials. With touchscreen hardware, manufacturers get what they pay for and consumers will notice the difference. * Allow ample time to develop your algorithms. Don’t treat touchscreen algorithms as an element of component sourcing; create a distinct touch development track in-house to make sure your products are both responsive and accurate. * Closely integrate touchscreen hardware, software, and user interaction development as early as possible in the product development process. Never treat them as separate tasks.
The success of the iPhone has triggered the adoption of touchscreen systems in a wide range of mobile devices, and a bevy of new gadgets equipped with capacitive sensing technology have now hit the market. MOTO’s conclusion sates that ‘All touchscreens are not created equal’ The video and photos of MOTO’s “DIY Smartphone Touchscreen Analysis” experience is available here.

Apple Ipad Unveiled – Take A Look At Apple’s New Gadget
If you follow Apple, or tech news in general, you will know that Steve Jobs unveiled the iPad this week in San Francisco.
His goal/dream for the iPad is that it will bridge the gap between smartphones and laptops. But does the iPad fill this gap? Not really. But we’ll get to that in just a moment. The iPad at first glance looks like a scaled up version of the iPhone. And in some ways it is. First let’s take a look at the dimensions.
The iPad is half an inch thick, which is why many people began referring to it as iSlate. The IPS display is a rather respectable 9.7 inches. In comparison, the iPhone has a 3.5 inch display. The whole devices weighs 1.5 pounds.
According to Steve Jobs, the iPad has a battery life of 10 hours, and can stay in stand-by for one month.
Hardware specs are also pretty decent. The processor is a 1 GHz Apple A4, which should provide more speed than it does. As it stands, the iPad is not capable of multitasking. What does that mean? Well, if you’re reading this, you probably have your browser open. If you checked your inbox, your email client may be open. Then there is whatever other programs you normally use on your computer. With the iPad you can only use one application at a time. Disappointing, isn’t it?
I really don’t see this as a limitation of the hardware. Either the OS can’t handle the demands, or won’t. In either case this is something that Apple will have to fix in a future release.
As with most of the other hardware, Apple makes the iPad come in multiple different flavors, these range from the 16GB to the 64GB versions, with the price increasing for each one. The 16GB version costs $499, with the 32GB version jumping to $599. If you want the big version with 64GB storage space, you will be looking to spend $699.
The iPad connects over WiFi 802.11n, although some versions come with 3G. The data plans for the device start at $14.99 a month for 250MB of transfer, while the unlimited plan costs the double, $29.99, and you get free access to AT&T hot spots. Unlike the iPhone, there aren’t any contacts you get locked into. Instead it runs on the pre-paid model, which is activated directly through the device.
Some of the other features the iPad comes with are an accelerometer, compass, microphone, speaker, and a 30-pin connect. If you think you’re going to get a camera too, think again. The iPad does not come with a camera. This is rather disappointing, since including one with the device would make sense.
That about sums up the feature list. Does it sound like something you will need to have?
For me there are several issues with the iPad in its current state.
First, it doesn’t offer multitasking, which is a fundamental part of using a computer. If this isn’t changed, it isn’t anything more than a glorified iPhone with a lame name. This is the biggest problem for me with the device. Maybe this won’t bother most of the users, but for anyone that wants to do more than browse the Internet, read some email, and listen to music (not at the same time) this isn’t a viable solution.
Second, the lack of a camera. Apple’s solution for this was two huge adapters that could/should have been built into the device in the first place. Neither of them actually gives the device “real” camera functionality, instead they are only a way to import photos. Here is what Apple has to say about them:
The Camera Connection Kit gives you two ways to import photos and videos from a digital camera. The Camera Connector lets you import your photos and videos to iPad using the camera’s USB cable. Or you can use the SD Card Reader to import photos and videos directly from the camera’s SD card.
My verdict, if you’re looking for something bigger than your iPhone, and only care about browsing the Internet, reading your email, and other simple functions then this might be for you. I feel that Apple is trying to bank on the trendiness of their products rather than truly bridge the current gap between smartphones and laptops. If the iPad is their solution, we still have a long way to go.

Gadgets for 2009
Technology has unnaturally affected the society and its surroundings in a number of ways and means. Not all technology augment to increase the rate of culture in a creative way but instead technology can also help make the impossible to possible.
IPhone Tweaking
The iPhone is loved by many and hated by many as well. It is a box full of electronic surprises and it offers many more possibilities than customers and potential buyers can imagine. Getting this gadget is like going to a car dealer and buy a new car with a basic configuration, but with the possibility of adding things: installing gold rims, wide tires, fog lights, and if you want, wings. Something similar happens with the Apple phone: there is a lot of complements in form of applications and programs (more than ten thousand options) that maximize the potential of the iPhone to communicate, organize information, develop utilities and add new options of entertainment designed for this smartphone. The way to enhance your iPhone is up to you.
Apple Mac OS UNIX

It can connect to virtually any server and share files with virtually any computer. It can authenticate to Active Directory servers. Now with Snow Leopard, the Mac is compatible with Microsoft Exchange Server 2007, the most popular messaging and collaboration software in corporate environments.
• Built-in applications are now 64-bit.

Gadgets – New Trend Products
Earlier technology was just a function but now a day they appear with modern features to satisfy the needs of every person. The latest cell phones are emerged from the older phones which included just the camera, but now it includes everything to the sport videos and games. When apple iPhone was introduced in year 2007 was incredible mark in the year which means the coming years are going to have much more technology and advancements in gadgets like a phone, electronics and toys.
The cell phones have no limit as they are treated as a mode of entertainment rather than telecommunication necessities. The gadgets ranging from touch screen to high definition plasma TV are most demanding and hottest gadgets in a today world. Their prices are increasing with the high in technology in the electronics. However, if you really notice the change in price you might not see the increase in their price there decrease in the price of the products. It seems like prices have increased because due to recession we no longer have enough money to blow on those gadgets some examples which would prove the above statement to be true. Like plasma TV, we use to get in $2698 in 2004 but in 2009 you might get in $925, in the similar way if you look for the prices for laptops it had been average seeking price in 2004 was $1,144 but now in 2009 you might get good configuration laptop only in$697. So prices are not gone up but due to recession, we are not in position to buy these products.
Later the technology was made according to the customer requirements so that the gadget which they are using fits with their personality. This electronics which was customized by the customers was commonly known as fashion electronics. Today for the customer looks of the gadget play more important role than its function.
The gadget had made everyone’s life so easy and comfortable. You can be connected to the whole world with wi-fi in your mobile. You can imagine your wife cooking food and talking with her friends on blue tooth. With the help of these gadgets, you can check your blood pressure and blood sugar level sitting at home. Possibility is unlimited in the advancements in the fields of gadgets.
